Within the offical web pages of trails within Umpqua National Forest, it is mentioned that Surprise Falls, USGS Potter Mountain (1998 ns), can be seen across the river from Umpqua Hot Springs. A brochure entitiled "North Umpqua Trails" reports this cataract as well as Columnar Falls, USGS Potter Mountain (1998 ns), can be accessed along the main trail just east of the hot springs.
